What do you do when there is no 911? This hands-on,16 hour course will help prepare you for the unexpected. The course is designed to meet the needs of trip leaders, guides, camp staff, outdoor enthusiasts and individuals working or playing in remote locations. It will introduce you to treating injuries and providing extended care for individuals who become ill far from advanced medical care. WFA is a two year certification through SOLO Wilderness Medical School, the oldest continuously operating wilderness medicine school in the world.
This 16-hour program covers topics ranging from preparation and prevention to assessment and treatment. Classroom lectures and discussions are supplemented by practical work and problem-solving exercises. The emphasis is always on hands-on experience. Scenarios are an important part of this training.

Jeremy Robichaud has been working with youth in various back-country and wilderness environments for over 8 years; he was the coordinator of a Therapeutic Recreation program in Ellsworth for 4 years before taking over as Director of Adventure Recreation at the Bangor YMCA in 2012. Respecting his responsibilities as a Registered Maine Guide, Jeremy began his career in the medical profession at the Wilderness First Responder level. From there, he went on to become a Wilderness-EMT and a Nationally Registered EMT-B. Jeremy currently does some part-time work for an ambulance service out of Bangor. Jeremy's major outdoor passion is technical rock-climbing and he is licensed by both the American Mountain Guide's Association (AMGA) and the Professional Climbing Instructors Association (PCIA) as a climbing guide and instructor. Jeremy does some per-diem work for Acadia Mountain Guides and Climbing School in Bar Harbor as well as Project Adventure, Inc. in Beverly, MA. Additionally, Jeremy is the author of Boulder Bangor! A First Ascender's Guide, the first boudlering guidebook for the state of Maine.
